The anticipation of longer days is palpable!

It is also with great anticipation that we resurrect eScope for our AGES membership! As the first editor of this new format I hope you enjoy the online journey each edition will bring, with conference critiques, literature reviews, inspiring member interviews, and much more.

This morning here in Hobart, 3,000 people from all over Australia took the nude plunge into the freezing waters of Nipaluna. It was a reminder that being together as a community brings strength to challenging environments – especially in the icy waters of Hobart.

Building community requires intentional action. At a time when the world is experiencing war, political and economic upheaval, we are again reminded of the importance of connection. Connectedness fosters respect and inclusivity, core values of AGES, and encourages us to value and celebrate our diversity. Without this we risk division and conflict, threatening the destruction of our society.

eScope is one of the AGES board initiatives to foster your learning, as well as connect our AGES community. I am incredibly thankful for the eScope committee members: Dr Jenifer Ponte, Dr Nyasha Gwata, Dr Kate Martin, Dr Keryn Hoogervorst, Dr Akshara Shyamsunder, Dr Alison Bryant-Smith, Dr Basia Lowes, and Dr Rebecca Nash, who each contributed to bring this Winter Solstice eScope edition to life.

I will leave you with one of my favourite quotes on learning, and welcome suggestions for our future triennial eScope editions ahead.

“Tell me and I forget.
