Yet some of the most valuable learning often happens outside formal CPD activities.<\/p>\n<p>I have curated a collection of books, podcasts and resources designed with the time poor clinician in mind. Remember podcasts and audiobooks can keep you company between clinics or on your commute from home to work and all the in between. These recommendations that are practical, engaging and genuinely worth your attention. <br \/>Whether you&#8217;re looking to sharpen your clinical knowledge, refine your leadership skills, or simply find something that reminds you why you chose this profession, these are resources that deliver value and some without demanding hours you don&#8217;t have.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Podcasts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Surgeons with Purpose by Dr Mel Thacker<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I came across this podcast and really connected with Dr Mel Thacker, who speaks openly and is vulnerable about her struggles as an early career surgeon. This podcast explores the realities of life in surgery beyond the operating theatre, including leadership, wellbeing, burnout and career fulfilment. Through honest conversations with surgeons and experts, it offers practical insights into building a sustainable and meaningful medical career. A valuable listen if you are looking to thrive, not just survive, in medicine! Episodes combine practical clinical insights with real world experiences from leaders in the field. It is an excellent resource for gynaecologists looking to stay current with emerging evidence, evolving techniques and contemporary practice. Dr Amy Park who presented at our last AGES Perioperative Meeting is a prominent co-host of this podcast. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.backtable.com\/shows\/obgyn\">https:\/\/www.backtable.com\/shows\/obgyn<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Books<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1. The Vagina Bible by Dr Jen Gunther<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This book is an evidence-based guide that separates fact from fiction in women&#8217;s health. This book covers topics such as vulvovaginal health, menstruation, menopause and sexual wellbeing, and challenges common myths with clear, science-backed advice. Dare to Lead by Bren\u00e9 Brown<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I may be biased because I love everything that Bren\u00e9 produces! This book explores how courage, vulnerability and trust are essential components of effective leadership. She is experienced with decades of research and provides practical strategies for having difficult conversations, building resilient teams and leading with authenticity. As surgeons, leadership is thrust upon us in the operating theatre and beyond. The Pelvic Pain Foundation of Australia<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Pelvic Pain Foundation of Australia provides education, resources and advocacy focused on improving the understanding and management of chronic pelvic pain. It offers practical tools for clinicians and patients, including webinars, guidelines and patient-friendly materials to support multidisciplinary care. It is a valuable resource for all gynaecologists managing complex pelvic pain presentations and seeking to improve patient outcomes.
