At the same time, there is limited evidence that newer is always better.

We are under extreme scrutiny for the validity of some of our surgical interventions, with the media spotlight recently questioning the ethics of laparoscopy for pelvic pain. But we know (both anecdotally and through extensive peer reviewed research) that our patients can benefit greatly from surgery in the context of a multidisciplinary approach.

We are in a world where social media is the primary source of information for most of our patients. Do we have a role to play in ensuring the information being disseminated is accurate? Is it even ethical to showcase your skills on social platforms?

The 2027 AGES ASM in Brisbane has been carefully curated to look at these modern challenges and more. Our guiding theme is “New Sprouts and Old Growth Forests”, which speaks to the concept that so many of our founding principles are being rightfully challenged by progress, and yet we must simultaneously be respectful of wisdom of the past.

Some highlights will include Dr Jen Gunter (USA) who is renowned for her vocal stance in debunking non-evidence based care on social media and has been a powerful advocate for safe menopause management. We also look forward to Dr Helena van Karrenbroek sharing her expertise in hysteroscopic surgical techniques for conditions like adenomyosis and caesarean section niche – is everything old new again?

In addition to our international experts, we are spoiled for choice with outstanding local presenters. We have (of course!) fantastic updates on our gynaecological bread and butter, including endometriosis, adenomyosis, fibroids and pain management, and importantly the intimate links between these conditions and fertility planning and treatment. This meeting intends not just to provide you with plenty of practical tips and tricks (the HOW), but also wants to challenge you with evidence for the WHY. What evidence exists for our interventions, what research is needed to fulfil this evidence and what ethical questions do we need to consider to provide contemporaneous safe care for our patients?

For those who are still looking for a good reason to attend, the infamous AGES Gala Dinner is set to be another cracker, with some serious dancing and socialising an essential ingredient to any successful conference. We can’t wait to see you all there in sunny Queensland March 4-6, 2027, for knowledge, chatting and fun!

This meeting intends not just to provide you with plenty of practical tips and tricks (the HOW), but also wants to challenge you with evidence for the WHY.

[1

post-149","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uncategorised
["GET
